How To Lower Cholesterol?

It is a well known fact that high cholesterol is bad for your health so many people are looking for ways to lower cholesterol in their body's. Keeping cholesterol within prescribed limits carries many health benefits but one of the most important is to help lower the chance of developing heart disease. The good news is that it is relatively easy to lower your cholesterol with a simple diet change. There are a number of herbs that have the effect of lowering cholesterol and their use is becoming a popular way to fight this problem.

Garlic, (often confused as a plant when the actual bit you eat is a bulb) happens to be very good for you and in particular, your heart. Garlic has the effect of regulating the Omega 3 fatty acids present in the human body which has the positive effect of lowering the levels of the undesirable LDL cholesterol in the body and increasing the levels of the rather desirable HDL cholesterol that is essential for good health.

Green tea has many related health benefits not least its effect on reducing cholesterol in the body. It does this by promoting the growth of lipids and by helping the blood platelets move with east throughout the body. This is very important in helping the body deal with the cholesterol levels. Green tea is also known to help control blood sugar levels which has other related health benefits.

Research shows that red yeast rice is particularly good at lowering blood born lipids such as cholesterol and triglyceride's. This has a positive effect on the reduction of cholesterol levels.

Leaf extract from the artichoke has been found to help lower cholesterol. This is thought to be due to its tendency to help the liver produce bile and help the gallbladder to flow bile faster. This has not been conclusively proven at the time of writing but it is thought that this is the case.

Turmeric root, or cumin happens to be an excellent antioxidant and as such is rather good at lowering the body's levels of cholesterol.

Gugilipid is produced from the resin of the mukul tree, which calls India's semi arid plains its home. This extract has been proven to reduce the levels of total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol in the body with great effect. The people of India have been using this extract for centuries to help keep cholesterol low and it is now starting to be prescribed by doctors in the western world.

Most of these herbs and extracts are available in health food stores and the like in tablet or supplement form so if you are put off by the thought of having to eat them don't be.
